Q. What are your fees?
A. Our fees are simple! User-to-user transactions within bitcoinwallet.com are free and have no transaction fee. They are also instant, with no confirmation delays. It's the best value!
All transactions into and out of bitcoinwallet.com have a one percent transaction fee to cover miner fees, storage and the cost of our service. During times of blockchain congestion, withdrawals may have an additional fee to ensure fast delivery.
Q. Someone has logged into my account and my coins are no longer there, now what?
A. Your Bitcoinwallet.com account is accessible to anyone that has the correct email and password combination needed to log in. We have no way of knowing whether a correctly authenticated login is you or someone else that obtained your password and changed the email on the account. Similarly, if you complain to us we have no way of establishing that you are who you say you are, and that you didn't take the coins yourself.
The bottom line is: protect your password, because there is nothing we can do to help you recover missing coins. If you are able to log into your account you can see the IP addresses of the most recent logins on your account page. You can see the blockchain address where withdrawals were sent to on the transaction detail page. We have no additional information to provide and we are not equipped to conduct investigations on your behalf. Provide the login and transaction activity to the law enforcement agency of your choice.

Q. Can we see proof you have the customer funds? A. We use a Proof of Solvency method that allows anyone to confirm that any user's balance is accounted for (without seeing that user's balance). Click the green leaf icon on any user's page to verify their inclusion in our Proof of Solvency hash. |
Q. Will I receive coins from airdrops or hard forks? A. At this time we do not support forks, airdrops or other benefits available to the custodian of private keys. If there is an upcoming fork or airdrop you wish to participate in, withdraw your bitcoin from bitcoinwallet.com to a wallet that has announced their support of the specific fork or airdrop you are interested in. Please, refer to our Terms of Use Section 10. |
Q. What is the storage strategy? A. Initially customer funds are pooled. We are working on optional individual storage with user accessible private keys, multi-sig withdrawals and insured storage. Our cold storage wallets are distributed in physical vaults throughout the country and require multiple people to access. Our cold storage wallets are not accessible via any system. There is no automatic replenish of the hot wallet from cold storage. |

Your profile page address is your user name.bitcoinwallet.com (example https://price.bitcoinwallet.com). Your bitcoin address (and any external addresses you added to your account) is also available via API at user name.bitcoinwallet.com/api (example https://price.bitcoinwallet.com/api). Your bitcoin address is also shown on your dashboard when you log in, under the text "Deposit bitcoin". |
Q. Why is my balance negative? A. If you receive very small deposits that are less than the transaction fee your account balance can become negative. |

Q. Where are you based? A. We are based in the United States. Our servers are in U.S. based data centers. |
Q. Who are your business associates and partners? A. Our servers, load balancers and database are hosted by Amazon AWS. Our SHA-2 SSL is provided by Godaddy. Some of our development tools and our analytics are provided by Google. Every member of our development team has been involved with our founders' businesses for a minimum of 5 years. Our founders, Price Givens and Alex Charfen, have been business partners for 20+ years. |
Q. Why didn't I appear as a new user on the home page when I created my account? A. We only show new users that have added a profile picture. Adding a profile picture is a great way to get more visitors on your page. |
Q. When will you offer languages other than English? A. We are launching in a beta program and we expect to make many adjustments to the website during the first three months. We will launch with over a dozen languages immediately following our beta program. |
Q. What are external addresses? A. When you create your bitcoinwallet.com account an official bitcoin address is assigned to you. Anyone can send bitcoin to your official address and it will appear as a deposit into your bitcoinwallet.com account. In addition, you can list all your other addresses for bitcoin and other alternative cryptocurrencies on your page as external addresses. When a visitor views your profile page they'll see all your addresses and can send you a payment in the currency of their choice. On your dashboard page we show the real time balance of your external address for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Megacoin, Quark and Peercoin. Only you can see the balances of your external addresses. You can set your external addresses to private, making them invisible to the public. |
Q. I want to make a payment or donation on a BitcoinWallet.com page. How do I know the page belongs to who I think it does? A. Every user's page shows the email address used to create the page (i.e. *****@hotmail.com). If you think you're on the official Red Cross page and you see that the email address used to activate that page is anything other than *****@redcross.org you need to be very careful. In other words, the real Red Cross isn't going to create their BitcoinWallet.com account using a Hotmail address. |
Q. I sent coins to the wrong bitcoin address. How can I get it back? A. Bitcoin payments can not be reversed. If you send bitcoin to the wrong address by mistake it cannot be recovered. |
Q. I want to start a crowdsourcing fund, how do I do it? A. We haven't officially released this feature but here's how it will work. On your dashboard you'll see "Your Crowdsource Funds". You can create and manage your crowdsource funds there. |
Q. How do I get my account verified? A. Verified accounts have been manually reviewed by BitcoinWallet and meet authentication criteria. Before requesting account verification you need to have a website that you control or a verified twitter account or a verified facebook page or an established reddit account. If you want your account verified send an email to support@bitcoinwallet.com with the username that you want verified and your contact information. The account verification process includes a non-refundable fee of .1 btc to cover the expense of our manual verification process. |
Q. I made a deposit to BitcoinWallet.com. How long does it take to become available? A. BitcoinWallet.com requires that deposits be confirmed on the blockchain 6 times before they are available. That takes around an hour. If you don't see your deposit as a pending transaction on your BitcoinWallet.com dashboard within 10 minutes submit a support ticket with your username and as many transaction details as you have (sending address, receiving address, block, amount, time sent). |
Q. What do I need to provide to create an account? A. You need an email account and a mobile phone that accepts sms messages. You must verify your email address and mobile phone to complete sign up. To provide a high level of security for our system we require you to confirm a verification code sent to your mobile phone each time you log in or send funds. |
Q. What's a Premium Username? A. Choosing your bitcoinwallet.com username is like registering a valuable domain name that you're proud to keep forever. On most sites the assignment of usernames is a land rush: first come first serve. To prevent ingenius early adopters (bless their hearts!) from registering all the best usernames in the first 5 minutes we've added some friction to give everyone a chance at getting their desired username. The pricing for Premium Usernames is based on the length of the username and whether it contains numbers. Usernames with 1-4 characters (X, Bo, Jon, Bill) are Premium Usernames. Usernames with five or more are free. 1 character names = 2 btc + .2 btc per year 2 character names = 1 btc + .1 btc per year 3 character names = .4 btc + .04 btc per year 4 character names = .1 btc + .01 btc per year 5+ character names = Free |
Q. Can I buy or sell bitcoin from bitcoinwallet.com? A. At the moment, Bitcoinwallet.com is not an exchange, an administrator of virtual currency or a money transmitter and we don't deal with any government issued currency. Bitcoinwallet.com allows you to receive bitcoin and send bitcoin to other bitcoinwallet.com users without fees or confirmation delays. |
Q. Someone has logged into my account and my coins are no longer there, now what?
