The torrent landscape looks quite different from
a year ago. With the shutdown of KickassTorrents and Torrentz.eu, two
of the largest players in the scene disappeared.
However, their places were quickly filled by established sites and a
few new faces. The Pirate Bay is in the lead once again, closely
followed by ExtraTorrent and RARBG, which gained many new visitors in
recent months.

1. The Pirate Bay
If you've heard of KickassTorrents or Torrentz, the chances are that
you've probably heard of The Pirate Bay (TPB). Dubbed “the galaxy's most
resilient BitTorrent site,” TPB has evaded numerous shutdowns and
domain seizures in recent years.
A simple interface, a huge selection of torrents, and minimal adverts
all contribute to TPB's popularity. If there ever was an alternative or
successor to KickassTorrents, TPB is it!

2. YTS.AG
YTS.ag is in no way affiliated with the original YTS or YIFY group
but successfully took its place late last year. Not all other torrent
sites are happy with the 'brand hijack' and several are actively banning
its releases.
YTS is known for its visual appearance. Moving along the line of
other torrent indexing sites, the home page now only features a search
page. Pirated content mostly fuels YTS but the looks are enough to give a
tough competition to some popular streaming services.
3. RARBG:
RARBG, which started out as a Bulgarian tracker, has gained the
hearts and minds of many video pirates. Movies and TV-shows with a RARBG
tag are a common sight on other torrent indexes as well. The site was
founded in 2008 but only made its first appearance in the top ten in
2015.

4. 1337x:
1337X is another torrent site that has recently emerged following the
demise of KAT and ExtraTorrent. Founded in 2007, a full revamp of the
1337X site brought a massive jump in traffic.
1337x had some issues a year ago, when several of the admins and
moderators protested over security concerns. However, much progress has
been made since. The site improved, kept growing in traffic, and
recently rolled out a new design as well.

5. LIMETORRENTS:
Limetorrents.cc regained a spot in the top ten this year. The site's
operator also launched the torrent cache iTorrents a few months ago,
which is used by several other torrent search engines.
It appears quite easy to find a healthy torrent and what makes
LimeTorrents one of the best torrent sites is the regular updating of
content. The torrent site features separate web pages where it provides
updated lists for the top 100 torrents trending the most, and the latest
torrents uploaded to the site.

6. Zooqle:
It's a relatively new name in the BitTorrent ecosystem, but it is
rising in the success charts pretty quickly. For this rise, the credit
is to be given to the steadily increasing number of torrents.
Users can easily navigate and find things using the neat and clean
interface of the website which is complemented by the lack of intrusive
advertisements. The content on Zooqle is mainly TV Show torrents and
Movie torrents, but the popular torrent site also hosts torrents related
to software, games, etc., for different device platforms.
